Reading Enrichment and Library
Every year in the month of October we celebrate Black History and heritage. This year’s Black History Month is aimed at celebrating black female literary history and shining the spotlight on some of our favourite black female authors and illustrators. The official theme is ‘saluting our black sisters’.
To celebrate this, we would love for our pupils to discover and explore some iconic black characters within children’s books and to explore some inspirational black authors and illustrators.
This can be a research-based project for all of the family to get involved with and is a brilliant way to broaden our knowledge.
Below are some ideas of characters and authors that you may wish to explore along with a template for an activity sheet.
