Relationships and Health Education
Welcome to the Relationships and Health Education pages.
Relationships and Health Education is one element of our PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic) curriculum
We seek to promote personal wellbeing, and to giving children the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and practical skills to live safe and healthy lives.
The lessons below (taught to Years 4, 5 and 6 during the Summer Term) cover the emotional and physical changes that happen during puberty. They are being taught within the requirements set out in the statutory guidance for Health Education (updated September 2021).
In Year 6 only, there is one non-statutory sex education lesson tailored to the age and emotional maturity of the pupils. A more detailed overview of the content of this lesson is available alongside the lesson plans in the Year 6 drop-down box below.
All PSHE teaching takes place in a safe learning environment and is underpinned by our school ethos and values. Pupils have the opportunity to ask questions in a safe and controlled manner, with teachers ensuring that content is approached in an age-appropriate fashion.
At Gascoigne, we are proud of our long-standing positive relationship with parents in support of pupils’ learning within PSHE. Any parents who would like to discuss the content further should contact Mr Fox via email: jfox@gascoigne.co.uk or on 0208 270 4291.
