Year 3's Beautiful Outcomes
Y3 - Engaging Reading Corners & Displays
Y3 - Raising Money for Vulnerable People
Year 3 spent this half-term learning about the importance of our Gascoigne Treasure 'Kindness and Civic Responsibility'. As part of their learning mission to support vulnerable people, the teachers and children from every class spent time and effort to cook jam from fresh strawberries and designed their own labels to sell jars of strawberry jam to parents yesterday. Additionally, the experience gave the children a chance to bring their knowledge of DT and Maths to life.
As a result of their efforts, the year group managed to beat their target of £200, and raised an amazing £289 for charity. Well done Year 3!
The money raised will go to the local Community Food Hub, situated in the Barking Library, to feed vulnerable families from the school and the local area that may be facing poverty.
Please see pictures of the event below.
Thanking all the Year 3 Teachers, TLAs, children and parents for making this half terms learning mission a success!

Y3 Pre-Historic Art Exhibition
As part of Year 3's topic on Stone Age, the pupils learnt about pre-historic carvings and cave paintings, depicting animals such as deer, bison, horse and birds.
Through art, pupils used different mediums and charcoal to create tones and textures. Pupils found out that earth colours that pre-historic people painted with were; red, yellow and umber pigments, black charcoal from fire and burnt bones.
After experimenting with colours and effects that can be created using natural materials, pupils made their own paints using spices and objects found on a nature walk.
